Will you be gutted or pleased or relieved if we go out of the Europa League?
FORGET the away day experiences for those of you who've been traveling or planning to travel to away games in Europe, on a purely footballing (FOOTBALLING) level, what do you think?

I'm not sure, on the one hand it's great experience for the players, especially some of the younger ones and it could help us attract some decent signings in the next month if we could offer them european football. And these qualifying games have been good for us - better than uncompetitive pre-season friendlies.

On the other hand, the money to the club from the Europa is pretty shit until you get to the final stages. And those endless Thursday night / Sunday games.... Injuries, knackered players etc etc.

I always want us to win but if we went out I don't think I'd be that gutted. You?

Prima Donna footballers can't play twice a week, what a load of bollocks! If we didn't intend to take the competition seriously and didn't want to be in it we shouldn't have accepted the place but left it open for the next in line who did. Hold on, what where the club saying a few weeks ago, going to give the EL a real go, privilege to be in it, will attract better players, (Payet was an example), yeah, I'm gutted!

'We can't win it so relieved that it won't drain our team'

Isn't that the exact way of thinking that Allardyce was absolutely SLATED for by all and sundry? Conceeding defeat before even playing games?

I'd be surprised if we were to end up having to face anyone in the EL that we didn't have at least a shout at beating. 99% of the time all the big guns are in the other European tournament.

Don't like to lose any game and it will give the anti-West Ham media more ammo to hit Bilic if we do.

However I think we are best out of it. In fact I'm not sure why we entered in the first place.

I can't afford too many more away games so relieved

Would like one more game so gutted

2nd string will give it a go...shame that injuries and poor decisions by defenders have us reduced us to this position pre PL start.

on the plus side, bilic has proved he can manage a ''cup run'' so maybe league & fa cups could be real targets this year.

it will be a good headache to have if the kids turn over the roms. bilic has done more with the kids in 2 months than bfs did in 4 years,,,

Top a club like us, Europe is, and should be considered a big deal. It's what we should be striving for every season. Even though we got in via the back door, to go out so early would be a poor show, tbh.

Massive wasted opportunity if we do go out. You don't actually get many chances to play in Europe any more so I'll be really disappointed

Re: Will you be gutted or pleased or relieved if we go out of the Europa League?
Fact is that the game against Arsenal has to take priority. Not so much because we should expect to get points but because the first team squad need to be working on Bilic's game plans this week uninterrupted by games.

The EL has been a distraction with a game a week plus friendlies meaning Bilic was unable to get all the players together and work on his tactical approach except in small bursts.

The "first team" players in Romania are all ones that have clearly been labelled dispensable with the exception of Jenkinson. As such I think what is important for Bilic is that his coaches are working on the game plan this week while the 2nd string will try and win in Romania. If they don't so be it.

It does not compare to BFS throwing games in any way as far as I'm concerned...

Re: Will you be gutted or pleased or relieved if we go out of the Europa League?
Bilic is obviously under HUGE pressure to maintain our PL status this season and with a complete overhaul in playing staff and style it's going to take a lot of time to get everything to the way he wants it. I can understand the nervousness from the board about the Europa League but then they shouldn't have made such a big deal about it towards the end of last season and we should have gone out and got stuck in if they really didn't want it.

I'd like to think that those that have gone are more than capable of getting a result though.

I want us to win the Europa League. I know it won't happen, but whilst we are still in the competition, my deluded belief that we can win it still exists. However, I expect the flame of my UEFA hopes to get extinguished tonight.

I'd be gutted but relieved. I honestly think it's a real problem for every team that plays in it. Not to say it's not fun but it will stop being fun if we do poorly in the league as a result of Thursday games.
